January 1 - George O. Brisbois, the chief of police, closed down eleven card game establishments in an attempt to clamp down tight on gambling in Phoenix.
January 9 - A local baseball team composed of amateurs, the Outlaws, "everlastingly walloped the life out of" the Arizona Reds by a score of 7-0.
January 28 - Massive flooding cut Phoenix off from communication with the outside world.
March 4 - L.R. Templin obtained the first license under a new state law for a bicycle with a motor attachment.
April 16 - A new local stage line between Phoenix, Tempe, and Mesa opened with a schedule of 30 minutes each way.
June 20 - Frank L. Toombs demonstrated an early version of the evaporative cooler in Adams Pharmacy at the Adams Hotel.
July 3 - Riverside Park opened with a swimming pool, an orchestra, and a big dance hall.
August 25 - Water service reached over 5,000 homes and businesses, not including public buildings.
September 10 - Phoenix and Glendale were flooded when the Arizona, Grand, and Maricopa canals were breached by floodwaters.
September 27 - One Tempe and six Phoenix precincts—numbers 3,4,8,9,12, and 17 in Phoenix and number 3 in Tempe—were recounted in the contest over the nomination for county attorney on the Democratic ticket. A.H. Davidson filed a statement with the Superior Court clerk over a difference of six votes between the nominee, L.M. Laney, and the second-run Clyde M. Gandy.
